Intelliseek's BlogPulse.com Adds Two Powerful New Features

Continued boom in blog creation, now at 11-plus million identified blogs, fuels innovative click-able trend graphs and enhanced conversation tracker abilities

Cincinnati, OH (May 19, 2005) -- Just 23 days after it reached the 10-million blog milestone, Intelliseek's BlogPulse.com portal has identified more than 11 million blogs -- a sure sign of increased interest in blog creation and usage.

To keep up with the blog boom, Intelliseek has added two new BlogPulse features to help bloggers better use and understand the blogosphere.

Of the 11 million identified blogs, about 3.5 million were active in the last 30 days -- meaning new information has been posted to them, according to Intelliseek, a marketing intelligence firm that measures and analyzes online consumer buzz. BlogPulse passed the 11-million blog mark on May 16 after reaching the 10-million milestone just three weeks earlier, on April 23.

The new features include:

  • Clickable Trend Charts: The popular Trend Chart feature tracks "buzz" on issues, personalities or phrases over 1-, 2- or 6-month periods.  Usability testing revealed a need to understand the reasons for spikes in buzz.  For example: Buzz about "Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," which lingered at about .5% of all blog posts since early May, has increased fivefold in the last two weeks to 3% of all blog posts, triggered by the movie's opening today. BlogPulse users can now click on a chart spike to drill through to the specific blog comments that fueled it.
  • Enhanced "Conversation Tracking":  In response to feedback, users can now search for any topic in BlogPulse’s "Conversation Tracker" tool. It is no longer necessary to type in the exact link or full URL of a blog post or site. The Conversation Tracker allows users to gauge the extent to which bloggers refer to links or mention topics.

"Blogs represent one of the fastest growing areas of content on the Internet, and Internet users remain incredibly interested in creating blogs for communication and personal expression," said Pete Blackshaw, Intelliseek's chief marketing officer. "We intend to make BlogPulse one of the most powerful auditing tools for consumer opinion, sentiment, and consumer-generated media."

Blackshaw will lead a May 24 webinar on 2005 blog trends, drawing from BlogPulse's vast content repository.

BlogPulse showcases a small fraction of the text-mining and text-analysis technologies that are available to users of Intelliseek’s flagship product BrandPulse(TM) solution, which transforms unaided consumer comments and conversations into insightful marketing intelligence.
